Vaccine Advice
- Hepatitis B vaccine
We recommend all patients should be immunised against hepatitis B. We provide this in the clinic.
- Hepatitis A vaccine
We recommend all patients should be immunised against hepatitis A. We provide this in the clinic.
- Winter flu vaccine
We advise all patients to have an annual flu vaccine. This is available from your GP.
- Swine flu vaccination
We advise patients to have swine flu vaccines – you will need two doses 2 weeks apart. This is available from your GP.
- Pneumovax
We advise all patients to have Pneumovax which protects against pneumococcal pneumonia. This is available from your GP.
Travel vaccines
Patients should have all routine travel vaccines except for:
- Live polio vaccine – you need the injectable formulation rather than the oral one.
- Yellow fever vaccine – discuss with your HIV specialist. If your CD4 is over 200 it may be safe to have.
- Malaria prophylaxis – discuss with your HIV specialist. It is important to take prophylaxis but some of the medicines may interact with your antiretrovirals.
